REINER introduces the new P1-MP6 ink for dark surfaces

If you run a business of your own, you are well aware of the day-to-day problems which have to be addressed while producing, packaging and marking onto any kind of merchandise. Every person who ever dealt with the production of goods knows how much effort it takes to prepare a well packaged, identifiable product, ready to be delivered to happy consumers. It doesn’t matter if it’s a glass food jar, plastic wrapper, acrylic bottle or a tin can. We all know the struggle to get the printer in the right position, use a proper angle, get the symbols and numbers in the desired place, trying to avoid smudging and problems with tracking packets or batches. Plastics always require choosing the most suitable place to print (lid, bottom or somewhere else?). Metals have to be completely clean and free from oil and grease in order for the ink to stick to the surface. While marking onto painted or coated wood you have to be sure the ink will dry quickly. Glass, mirrors, and ceramics are very fragile and therefore not easy to handle. Rubber is quite demanding due to the presence of dust and debris which may change the quality of the imprint.  Not to mention composite surfaces like styrene, PVC, vinyl, acrylic substrates or paper and card. These difficulties may be solved by choosing the right equipment.  But what if the substrate we need to print onto is dark (such as black/brown card, dark coloured rubber, or a bottle with dark liquid) or – more importantly – has to be dark, which doesn’t allow you to use colours such as black or blue?

Some products and containers are designed in such a way that is supposed to reduce the risk of light absorption (meds, supplements or food which may lose their nutritional value under the influence of UV radiation). Some companies decide to use black materials due to the choice of bespoke packaging or branding of their merchandise. There are a lot of examples, like Revision Skincare,  Dermatologic Cosmetic Laboratories or Gu puddings. Many devices use what is often called thermal printing which isn’t very useful in all conditions. It involves utilising very expensive materials which – when pressed – leave a mark on the product. MP6 has ink been developed specially to work with REINER printers. The produced print has a matte finish and is water-resistant. The pigmented print covers the area with a code easy to track and identify.

Why should you choose the REINER MP6 ink?

The yellow ink will be the best solution if you are required to mark any kind of dark material on which black ink does not fulfill its role (like beer bottles, lids of jars used for pickles and chutneys. CD/DVD cases, brown glass bottles, a myriad of black containers, electronic boards, ceramics, and many more.

Always ensure the surface to be marked is clean and free of any dirt (such as fingerprints). Make sure the cartridge is primed and ready to go. This process starts by shaking the cartridge vigorously for 20-30 seconds. This is to agitate the special pigmentation within the ink. Then you may need to activate the cartridge by inserting a small amount of air using the syringe supplied. This guarantees a good print every time. Don’t leave the machine out of its cradle when it is not being operated. When you are finished with your printing always remove the cartridge. Replace its cover and reinsert it into an airtight container.

Just remove it and insert another one (MP3 or MP4). Now you can use other inks if you decide to run another batch of products with a completely different packaging.
